| In Mayfair and Belgravia there are fantastic gardens that can only be accessed if you have a key. Even if you live on Eaton Square you have to pay extra to access the gardens. Subsequently, they are almost always empty, and people only walk around them, looking into them. In Local Zoological Gardens this relationship is exaggerated through the introduction of animals photographed in the zoo and then collaged into the garden photographs. The gardens might as well be used as zoos, as the only way they are contemplated is as a distant spectacle, a natural world which you can never enter into, only observe. Local Zoological Gardens consists of a total of 14 photographs of different sizes. A selection of these images have subsequently been editioned. |
